SMSA Return to Play
Basketball
In accordance to ViaSport’s Return to Play guidelines, Similkameen Minor Sports Association has created a safety plan to implement and adhere to the restrictions and requirements of BC’s restart plan.
Basketball
Introduction
This safety plan was developed with reference to ViaSport’s 2.0 Return to Play Guidelines whereas basketball has been categorized as a Group C Sport Type which limits the cohort size up to 50 players. With our small community we will limit registration to 20 per group and MAX 50 people within the gym including coaches & players.
The BC Provincial Government is in Phase 3 of the Restart Plan and ViaSport has moved to Phase 3 (progressively loosen) for basketball programs.

Safety Guidelines
In order to participate in SMSA Winter Basketball Program, the following guidelines must be met by all staff and players.
-
All staff and participants will enter the facility through the right gym doors (Elementary gym doors closest to the grade 7 classrooms) and exit through the left gym doors (closest to the front entrance of the school).

**Only coaches and participants may enter the building. Parents should arrange for drop off and pick up in the parking lot. Parents please pick up promptly as SMSA coaches cannot monitor athletes once they exit the gym.**

SMSA will bring basketballs for session use. Each ball will be thoroughly sanitized after each practice.
